The Arduino Bluetooth book + course

Arduino Bluetooth, fixed: the book, and the course that builds the car

Make It Connect names every way an HC-05, HC-06 or HM-10 link fails, why, and the fix. With it comes the eight-lesson course that builds a car you drive from your phone.

A page from Make It Connect: the symptom index, a table of what the module is doing and the page that fixes it
The symptom index, page 222. Find the symptom, go to the page.

The book’s symptom index maps 22 symptoms to the chapter that fixes each. A few of them:

  • ch 3It never appears in my phone's Bluetooth list
  • ch 3It pairs, then drops after a few seconds
  • ch 5The Serial Monitor shows ⸮⸮⸮
  • ch 7Uploading a sketch hangs forever
  • ch 6AT commands return ERROR, or nothing at all
  • ch 10It works on Android but my iPhone can't see it
  • ch 24Half the AT commands in the tutorial don't exist on my module
  • ch 3The module got hot, and now it's dead
  • ch 3Do I need those two resistors, or not?
  • ch 6It asks for a pairing code and 1234 does not work

Every sketch in the course was compiled with arduino-cli before it shipped, so none of them fail on a missing semicolon.

Straight answers

Free tutorials already cover this.
They cover the happy path, and they are free. What they disagree about is everything that happens when it doesn’t work, and the number most often repeated for the HC-05’s baud rate is simply wrong: 57600 is not the factory default for any of these modules, despite appearing in widely viewed tutorials. An evening spent finding out which video lied to you costs more than $12.
Is it for my module?
HC-05, HC-06, HM-10, the clones and the ESP32. If you have an iPhone and an HC-05 or HC-06, no book can make them talk: iOS does not expose classic Bluetooth serial to apps at all. You need a BLE module, and that is a purchase, not a fix. The book says so in chapter 10.
What if it doesn’t help?
Email me within 30 days and I will refund it. Keep the book and the course either way. There is no version of this where arguing over $12 is worth either of our time.
What do I get, and when?
The 277-page book as a PDF and an EPUB, yours to keep, and lifetime access to the course. Delivered by email the moment you pay.
Do I need to buy hardware?
For the book, no. For the build, yes — about $80 of parts, every one named and priced inside the course before you commit, and less if you already own an Arduino.
Why $12?
The pair is listed at $24. The first 100 pay $12: the launch price is a discount code with a hard limit of 100 redemptions, so the checkout itself stops honouring it. Buyer 101 pays $24. No timer, no countdown.
